STEAMBOAT ON THE RIVER

A story with special appeal that uses Lincoln's early years on the river. Working for his father's shipyard against his will, Horace James Owens goes on a trip to deliver the Talisman to a new owner. Misfortunes- floods, the spoiling of an Illinois cargo delivery, fire, stolen goods- are assuaged when young Lincoln arrives, placates a landsman, gets the Talisman through the flood, gentles young Owens and restores in him the self confidence that wins the approval of his irate father.
