To the series which includes Fighter Planes That Made History and Bomber Planes That Made History David Cooke now adds Flights That Made History. Thirty seven flights are reported starting with the Wright Brothers' attempt with The Flyer, in 1903, the first contraption ever to lift off the ground under its own power, and ending with Max Conrad's startling flight from Casablanca to Los Angeles in 1959 in a commercial plane with only a 250 horse powered engine. In terse form, emphasis is heavily placed on fact rather than motivation. All vital statistics are reported pertaining to mileage, flying time, dates, plane-type, etc. For the non-aficionado only the renowned flights are familiar such as Lindbergh's crossing and the first non-stop transatlantic flight. This is primarily a source book where one can easily check a fact or statistic, or an addition to the enthusiast's collection.
