by David Dodge ‧ RELEASE DATE: Nov. 1, 1949
More experiences of the quixotic Dodges, this time in South America, when, again insolvent, they are stranded in Peru. They settle down in a bargain-basement Garden of Allah, Arequipa, Peru, to build a backlog in a house with no furniture. Against a backdrop of the glory that once was, there is the poverty and ignorance of the natives, the aridity of the land, and for the Dodges a fairly strenuous initiation into carnival, a fiesta, the mines, a trip down the Amazon, earthquakes and revolutions- and the dead end of red tape. Fast and funny.
