A worthwhile job of regional historical biography, comprehensive, and interesting reading for those who want to learn about the southern Rockies, from Yellowstone to Santa Fe, from the early explorers to present day concern with reclamation, recreation and places of interest for tourists. Here are the men who made the southwest, and the work they did,- explorers, Spaniards, Indians, traders, ranchers, cowboys, miners, emigrants, railroaders, etc. There are the conflicts with the Indians, trouble with the Spaniards, the gold rush, the silver stampede, labor strife. Good Americana regional material- but we wonder how much the market can absorb.
