THE MOTIVE ON RECORD

More murder and mayhem for the LAPD, led, as always, by homburg-wearing, Ferrari-driving Luiz Mendoza. The prime cases: Who is the child-molester/murderer now on the loose? Why would anyone want to kill and strip the body of Edward Foster--a colorless, friendless mailman? Who were the middle-aged woman and two well-dressed children found dead of poisoning in the pew of an obscure church, unrecognized by minister and congregation? Plus: a series of well-timed theater robberies, a double suicide, a Chinese family almost wiped out (for a bizarre reason), etc. And this time the domestic interludes involve Mendoza's overdue vacation, dog-adoption mixups, and pregnancy. The mixture as many times before, but a particularly tasty serving of it.
