by Dell Shannon ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 29, 1980
Shannon's 31st casebook for Luis Mendoza et al. of L.A.P.D.'s Robbery & Homicide division--and absolutely the standard assortment of overlapping crimes from the Shannon computer. Old people victimized by young blacks and committing suicide from despair. A little girl raped and beaten by her sleazy mother's sleazy boyfriend. A well-to-do middle-aged woman murdered while seeking sex. And always: one pervert (this one kidnaps women and forces his wife to watch him have sex with the kidnapee), one funny robber (a flashy blonde), and one domestic cricis for Mendoza (buying sheep for his new ranch). Surely by now any remaining Shannon readers could write the annual offering themselves.
