by Dennis Wheatley ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 23, 1943
Another Gregory Sallust (of Black Paroness, etc.) tale, even more lurid and far fetched than usual. Wheatley manages to stage his melodramas against European history, this time encompassing the abortive attempt to overthrow Hitler by an inner group of military men, the start and culmination of the Russo-Finnish war, and the shadow of threat to the Norway-Lowland countries, to which Sallust has the clue. After some unbelievable dare-devil-dick exploits, Sallust gets information to the proper hands, and escapes with an English pilot, a diplomat's daughter, and the lovely but intractable Erika.
