LANDSLIDE

A hard-breathing action novel finds Boyd, a geologist, in British Columbia presumably checking out an area for one Howard Matterson prior to its submergence under water (a dam). This is all part of an empire turned over to Matterson at the death of his senior partner, Trinavant, killed ten years before in an automobile accident with his wife and his son. The only survivor, a hitchhiker and dope pusher, came out of it with a new name, a new face and a new personality as Robert Boyd Grant, only now he has reasons to suspect that he may have been Frank Trinavant. An old man's sickbedside confession ends the doubt while the manhunt concludes with a more natural disaster....Bagley (The Golden Keel, his first) handles a masculine medium--adventure--with speed and stamina and authoritative detail and it's all wrapped up for the Hammond Innes audience with highly professional competence.
