by Dick O'Connor ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 23, 1977
O'Connor focuses on basketball star Rick Barry's maturation from ball-hog to team player in this fast-paced but repetitious biography. Barry's career should be of interest. It was marked by court battles and bad blood resulting from league-jumping, and early criticism that he'd never pass to teammates, even if he was good enough to get away with it. This shallow recap covers the high points and provides looks at key games, but one gets lost in the blur of basketball seasons, superlatives, and recycled quotes. Four unexciting, grainy black-and-white photos offer no relief.
