This book, written by a Catholic for Catholics, nevertheless, has meaning and value for all Christians. For the author attempts to set forth and analyse the spiritual attitudes which are characteristic of one who is called of God to be ""a new man in Christ"", and to indicate how such a lofty goal may be achieved. In successive chapters he deals with such topics as ""readiness to change"", ""contrition"", ""true simplicity"", ""humility"", ""true freedom"", ""patience"", ""meekness"", ""mercy"" and ""true surrender of self."" It is a volume which should have especial value for priests who are anxious that the religious faith professed by their people should issue in a transformation of the entire personality. The book shows a profound knowledge both of religion and of psychology, but is neither pedantic nor sentimental.
