by Donald Braider ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 4, 1965
With Jane and Theodore Norman's Traveler's Guide to Europe's Art (see p. 418) also due out in May, the tourist has a choice of two good books about the art to be found in Europe. Donald Braider also travels England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Low Countries, Portugal, Scandinavia, includes the USSR where the Normans included Israel. He is a little less personal, more objective in his approach; for example, rather than leading the reader from room to room in the Uffizi, he lists the paintings alphabetically by painter. He also provides more background on European art in general, cities, churches and collections in particular. The choice between the two books rests with reader preference for perspective.
