Leroy (Encyclopedia) Brown is the 10 year old brain behind the Idaville Police Department, of which his father is the Captain. This case history of his deductions, follows Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective. 10 Situations are presented up with a surprising solution. For those who are left in which Encyclopedia comes puzzling over his reasoning, explanations, all of which are based on logic and general information, are provided at the end of the book. Detection purists may still be left hanging, because in most of the cases Encyclopedia has postulated guilt on the basis of a lie. For instance, in the first case, Encyclopedia is shown a letter sent to Bugs Meany by famous baseball pitcher Spike Browning. The letter is dated June 31. We decided that Spike Browning was a moron. Encyclopedia concluded that Bugs Meany had forged the letter. Nevertheless, young puzzle lovers will enjoy testing their wits, and the book will probably be particularly appreciated by sniffly patients who have been ordered to bed.
