SARAH'S ROOM

The whimsical world of Sendak blends well with the lively, even-metered verse of Doris Orgel. Both author and artist handle Jen, Sarah's messy, scribbling id sister, with light humor. The scraggly-haired, long nightgowned moppet is an exuberant sprite from Sendak's pen. And, in the end, Jen, who has been denied a nice wall-papered room, grows a little, and neat school-going Sarah gives her permission to use her wonder-filled. A fresh few minutes for summer.
