A memento, by the wife of the great tenor who shared his last three years, which is possibly most curious in the complete self-concern, and self-abandon, of a professedly sensitive spirit. Here, in a luminous return to the past, she writes of a convent childhood; of Brother, who died; of her marriage to Enrico ""as simple and as natural as a dream""; of Gloria, and a second marriage- muted to a mere mention- which resulted in Jacqueline; of trips back and forth to Europe and the children ""who gave her back her life again""; and finally, the magnitude of the ""revelation"" which guided her to the mystic Gurdjieff and which gave her life a certain direction, notably lacking here.... A pervasive Me- for a questionable You- and it is doubtful whether the nimbus of a great name will change matters much.
