The wife of Dick Rodgers shares in a very personal way her informal approach to the problem of decorating in the first third of this elegant book. Elegant is correctly used as a keynote to the quality of the text as well as the appearance of the volume. While decorating is first a practical problem, no matter what the type of home of size of income, the end result here is indubitably geared to the upper income brackets, though not necessarily the top echelon. But the philosophy is a down to earth one which every woman can adapt to her own, even her minimal needs and aspirations. And it is fun reading, interpreting, adjusting and applying. And one has a sense of being taken behind the scenes with glimpses of the homes of her friends- in theatre, music, the arts and the social columns... ext comes a challenging section on thoughts behind entertaining, how to cope with problem guests, recalcitrant husbands, how to mix the unmixable and make every guest feel at ease, how to be a hostess- on many levels, how to give every kind of party. The final section is devoted to food, with menus and recipes for the hard to find. ?O pages of color photographs, numerous drawings by Jeremiah Goodman. Don't be afraid of the de luxe presentation. No matter what your income bracket, you'll find something for you in these pages.
