A CARPENTER

This prolific illustrator's cheery style with its childlike distortions and pleasing design is visually interesting--but, unfortunately, his creative imprecisions are inappropriate to simple informational books like this one. Planning a board that's braced on the wrong side, and the improbable positioning of another being sawed in a vise, are among the careless misrepresentations here, which also extend to the very simple text: a square is not a ruler.
