PREMARITAL INTERCOURSE AND THE INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

A research study has been based on data provided by 200 college level males (from 17 to 28 years of age) and placed within a ""value framework"" of ethical, moral and social considerations (not good or bad or right or wrong -- but satisfying and fulfilling as interpersonal relationships). The design of the study is defined-and the principal points of inquiry: the motivation of those involved, attitudes of responsibility, subject's evaluation of the experience, etc. Those interviewed are grouped in several classifications- ranging from liaisons with prostitutes and pick-ups to associations of increasing emotional involvement. While some overall conclusions have been attempted: does premarital intercourse lead to trusting, honest relationships or- doubt and deceit? does it strengthen or weaken the relationship? does it have beneficial or harmful effects? etc., the results suggest further areas for future inquiry rather than any definitive judgments. The publishers hope for a Kinsey market which seems far removed from Dr. Kirkendall's scientific and professional approach.
