SUGAR IN THE AIR

A fantastic blow-up of the tyranny of big business as background for the story of a chemical engineer and the way in which he becomes involved in the modern combination of science and industrial methods. An eccentric has been backed to get sugar from the air, the engineer is hired to watch him, discovers fraud, and circumvents the trick by launching a method which is partially sound. Then follows the artificial bolstering, internal politics, et al -- and crash. Targets at which the book aims -- current business and its inhumanity, waste and futility of modern industrialism -- English, but basically much like our own problems. Thought-provoking -- of more interest to men than women.
