by E. C. Spykman ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 20, 1960
Once again the lively Care family is revealed to the young reader, - as superbly vigorous and extravagant a group as ever terrorized a staff of servants and played havoc with what was considered good etiquette at the turn of the century. Particularly monstrous is Edie, the ten-year-old baby of the family who, in order to maintain any sort of independence of her brothers, frequently indulged in imaginative pranks which as likely as not had disastrous repercussions. But this summor, Edie's pranks at her aunt's seaside home lead to the recovery of stolen jewelry and the solution of a crime, revealing her as neither horrible nor terrible, but simply a young lady of remarkable persistence and inventiveness. E. C. Spykman writes with a flair, conjuring up, once again, that domestic magic which won her acclaim with The Wild Angel and A Lemon and a Star.
