Not a novel but a series of episodes built around the Baroness Clara Linz, beautiful widow, who has founded a business, Advice Limited, in which she works closely with Scotland Yard. A romance with a young Spaniard serves as connecting link throughout. The episodes:- theft of a load of gold bars, a succession of broken engagements, the changeling baby, a death on the golf course, the theft of some dress designs, etc, etc. Oppenheim does this sort of thing extremely well.
