DEPART THIS LIFE

Hilda Gazeley is unable to understand why she, her brother and his daughter have been getting the cold shoulder from old friends and neighbors but with her brother's murder, her doubts and her findings start to add up. His ways of blackmail, his avid interest in a woman once acquitted of murder, the fire that follows his death and another killing, convince her and Inspector Crankshaw of danger to come -- and it does, well-nigh seriously, to Hilda. Seeds of suspicion in competent British handling.
