The two littlest Peep-Larssons were already featured in books for the pre-school audience (Pysen, Little O). Although the children have not grown themselves (there are seven in all, ranging in age from two to sixteen, but with a big gap between four to eleven), this book is aimed at an audience that has. Those who have already achieved a fondness for the family will probably enjoy this story of how the six elder children went sailing for a month all by themselves in their own boat around the islands off Stockholm. But those who come on them cold will be left cold. There is no character that can be easily identified with--the central person is probably four year old Pysen, whose babyish outeness soon becomes irritating. The book suffers from a cloyingly sweet tone which overrides the sense of adventure. This is especially true of the dialogue -- the children don't even say a plain yes or no but ""oho yes"" and ""oh noho, indeed.
