These compare more closely with the WPA Writers' Project signal achievement of the regional guides, rather than with the big panoramic volume which introduced the series last year. The intent of the series is to provide the traveler- whether by car or armchair- where to go, what he'll find when he gets there- what he will see- and what is behind what he sees. There are to be nine volumes, and if they live up to the first two regional guides, in quality of text and dramatic effect of photographs, they will widen our horizons substantially.
