In this latterday world the pill has produced a horrendous matriarchy. Men have been reduced to pitiable playthings with the exception of an irascible few. One of these is Dion Quern, a fine mad poet who comes under the protection of the Amazonian Juno Locke who inadvertently falls in love with him. This is the story of Dion's ineffectual, funny/sad sorties against an Establishment that hosts witches' sabbaths at Stonehenge and has babies by proxy. Imaginative and sometimes touching satire.
