MOUSEKIN'S CHRISTMAS EVE

Mousckin's Golden House (1964, p. 1008-J-322) was a popular favorite of two seasons ago and here , the tiny white foot mouse finds herself another home just right for the Christmas season. ""Quiet"" is one of the words in juvenile book reviewing that has lost its value through overuse and reviewer reluctance to say, ""Nothing is happening here."" Nevertheless, every once in a while a genuinely quiet book does come along, something very simple and complete. That's Mousekin's Christmas Eve and it seems wholly reasonable and touching when Mousekin makes her way across the snow into a well-decorated house and curls up snug with the miniature lambs before the creche. A trifle too sweet for some tastes, but that is the mood Christmas does bring on and the art work is as pleasant and color perfect as it was in the last Mousekin book.
