PRIDE OF POSSESSION

This posthumously published book by the author of The Biscuit Eater deals with a twelve-year-old boy, who while coming to terms with his father's death and sudden poverty, becomes obsessed with the idea of training a pair of mut pups to avenge his father's killer, a wild boar. A first rate boy and dog story, Pride of Possession deals sensitively both with the children of the book--the boy and his two friends--and the adults with whom they frequently are at odds. A warm story in which both animals and people are designed to win the reader.
