JOHN HOE or ""A Penny Saved

The old adage was overworked by John Hoe, and as a consequence he lost his wife, his home and his farm animals, before he came to a realization of the importance of moderation in this as in other things. The old faithful dog taught him the lesson, and he changed his point of view. There is a folk quality to the story, but I can't see a very general appeal for small readers.
