This is the ideal Easter gift -- and belongs on the display table with A First Bible and Ten Saints and The Lord's Prayer. The editor, in selecting her material, has deliberately chosen child figures, or episodes from the childhood of Bible characters, -- Joseph and his brethren, the little Benjamin, Samuel in the temple, David the shepherd boy, the boy king, the Nativity, the child Jesus in the temple with the doctors, Jairus' daughter, and so on. For the most part she has used the familiar translation, with occasional deletion and occasional substitution for difficult or obsolete words. The illustrations are in delicate color, reverently conceived and executed, by Kate Seredy.
