In a sequel to The Pony That Ran Away the twins Ted and Sue, baby brother Robby, Pete the hired man, the pony Twinkle spend another humorously adventuresome summer on and farm. There's a mystery to be solved: young Robby decides the duck Jemima needs some ""yeggs"" to sit on the innocently takes Pete's cowbell, Ted's quartz and Sue's diamond door knob for the purpose. There are prizes to win: Sue beats Ted in a floating contest in their homemade swimming pool and wins a box of paints; Robby engineers a triumph in a county fair pony-riding contest with Twinkle that results in the acquisition of a western saddle. Lots of enthusiasm and swift executions of brilliant ideas make this excellent reading for summer reminiscences.
