To capture the fancy, a little story about an old New England sea captain whose magic cane disappears in a storm and then returns in a moment of need. When the storm disrupts everything- scattering the captain's whole cane collection and forcing him to go and live with his grandson- the magic cane is happy that it can now return to its native China. But after flight, it returns, sees the old man bent more double than ever, and decides to stay.
