by Elizabeth Coatsworth ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 1, 1937
A might-be-true story (I wonder if it is drawn from fact?) of a child of this century in a Maine seaport town. Episodic, with a quality of reminiscence and a charm of universal child understanding. Alice is about ten, and she likes to do the things any imaginative, friendly child would like. This tells of her playmates, her friends, her school days and holidays, her everyday adventures. Good regional material with a realistic quality which sacrifices nothing of Elizabeth Coatsworth's story telling powers, imagination or quiet humor.
