She makes a success of her writing -- but she picks a wrong man for the second time, and marries selfish Paul who walks out on her when she gets pregnant. Then follow a succession of friends -- increasing literary success -- and finally an involvement with her editor, who wants to get a divorce and marry her. She stalls him off, not wanting marriage, until, her son, old enough to fight, encourages her to settle down and marry for companionship a Philadelphia banker-collector.
