SOMETHING QUEER AT THE LIBRARY: A Mystery

Hustling sleuths Jill and Gwen, fresh from uncovering Something Queer at the Ballpark (1975), apprehend another youthful perpetrator when, preparing to enter basset hound Fletcher in a show, they borrow some dog books from the library and discover that several pictures have been clipped out. A bit slow to fasten on the one glaring clue, they finally notice that all the missing pictures are of Lhasa Apsos--and from there it's an ABC trail to the Lhasa section of the dog show. . . and a girl who loves the breed but isn't allowed to have a pet. Tempering triumph with mercy, Jill and Gwen march Pam and the mutilated books to the librarian, but then include her in their presentation to Fletcher of his very own water bed--purchased with his $25.00 award for ""most unusual markings."" Nothing so very queer, or even novel, about the case, though Gerstein tries his best to make it kicky.
