VINCENT VAN GOGH

In a companion volume to her Leonardodo Vinci (1952) the author relates the life of the Dutch painter in a short, straightforward text accompanied by reproductions of the artist's work. Unpretentiously, the biography outlines the main events in Van Gogh's sad, emotional, compulsive life, to a certain degree even recapturing the terrific impressions he must have had while painting in Arles. With the reproductions well placed within the text, this should serve as a stimulus to further interest, to a closer look at his work or a book like Stone's Lust for Life.
