Beth Gilbert returns to the home of her young guardian, Chris from the knowledge that she has been shadowed in Europe and to face the fact that her father's death was probably murder- for a valuable formula he had invented. She is also the first to admit her true feelings towards Chris- protective and dictatorial as he is in his paternalistic role. And their engagement, assumed as a cover, does not become real until Chris' search for her father's killer is successful and enables him to discover that his ward will be his chosen wife.... For what you might call an abiding audience, this is wholesome and undemanding.
