MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS

A vivid and objective biography of the much discussed Scottish Queen. In an expository rather than narrative style, the facts and issues in Mary's life are projected against an illumined background of the 17th century. Through the years of monarchical intrigue, religious controversy, national and personal growing pains- for Mary's own personality and affections are well scrutinized- the network of her tragedies is revealed. But while in sympathy with her character, the author takes care to show the other side and we see a queen who was domineering but destroyed by merciless connivers. There is a warmth and a strength in the book's detachment that will stimulate the urge to read more.
