The four children of this spirited and always fresh series have an uncanny faculty for falling into adventure. The two boys and two girls, with Kiki, the voluble parrot, unwittingly set off on a wild hide and seek treasure hunt with a band of ruffians when they inadvertently board the wrong plane at an English airport. Their plan for spending a quiet week-end with detective Bill Smugs are radically changed when they land in a deep valley in which the houses are ruins. After a succession of well-contrived adventures they outwit some villains and aid Bill in recovering Nazi loot.
