by Erich Segal ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 4, 1969
A His and Her bit (the latter in the original sense--this was a one-shot in the L.H.J. and it's not much more developed here) about Oliver Barrett IV, ""All Ivy"" Harvard Preppie who plays hockey and Jenny Calliveri, a ""Cliffie"" who plays the harpsichord, and how they fall in love. She says it's her ""negative social status"" and a way of getting back at Oliver III (the generation gap here is a gulch although it will all be squared off) and when they marry, father and son don't speak at all. But then none of this is for very long--Jenny has leukemia and the last scene will get to you even if you resist the sentimental torsion and have a skin like naugahyde.
