by Ernest K. Gann ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
Not an aviation story this time, but an exciting adventure with some romance-the background the anomalous settlement of Hong Kong, bordered by Communist China and by the Portuguese colony of Macao with its teeming life of the waters. The tale follows the search on the part of a wife for her adventurer husband, whom she suspects is held hostage by the Reds. Almost too easily she breaches the defenses of various questionable characters, finds that he is in Canton, and wins the help of the one man, Henry Lee, who has the facilities for getting him out. One forgives the play of coincidence and chance, and the almost inevitable capitulation to the powerful fascination of this ""soldier of fortune"" since Gann is an accomplished, and popularly acknowledged, practioner in this field of entertainment. Firm rentals and sales.
