By a veteran writer (Island in the Sky- Viking- was the last) about inveterate, incurable adventurers of the air, this tells of Ben Lawless, his inclinations to knock around, his aspirations to settle down with Betty- the girl he loved and had married. Unable to stay put in a conservative, conventional job, Ben signs up to fly for a Venezuelan General in the hopes of raising a stake, crashes, and is brought back to the states by Betty. Unwilling to live off her, he leaves home, does a year in jail for flying booze, comes out to settle down in a new business. The war in Spain is something he can't pass up- nor can he sit it out when World War II comes along. Ferrying the Atlantic, he makes his last escape- his last flight... There's not much missing, as this one guy's activities cover a lot of countries, take in a few women as well as Betty,- except distinction. But it passes time quickly.
