A flighty bit about Maybelle Dent, widow and homemaker with one daughter, Nina, who releases an unguessable potential when an old camphor lipstick produces an unexpected effect, making her irresistible to her next door neighbor, Alvin Perkin and to her doctor. When it is used by Nina, and Maybelle's friend, Fay, it continues to be devastating. Fay, a chemist yearning for her laboratory, goes to work to reproduce the formula, is brushed off by her husband an executive of a cosmetic firm, but she and Maybelle, now partners, give a demonstration to the head of the firm, which, although successful, is turned down again. They get its sale accepted locally and what with the brouhaha of its debut there is also Maybelle's getting her daughter married, trying to help Fay's marriage over the bumps, and bringing Alvin, whose radio broadcasts have helped the lipstick, ""Giddy Moment"", to national notice, to the altar. All told to ""dear diary"" this brings the suburbs to a boil -- or maybe a simmer
