by Eugene Lyons ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 1, 1964
With the same partisan vehemence that marked the 1948 publication of this book, Mr. Lyons has updated his work to include a record of the last 16 years in the life of the man he calls ""Chief."" During this period, the ex-President was the very active and knowledgeable chairman of the two Hoover Commissions on Government Organization. When the book was originally published it underlined the changing attitudes of people, press and politicians toward a President who had been vilified throughout the Depression. The additional material lists the honors that have continued to come from abroad and the belated acknowledgment by the Republican Party of his stature as an older statesman. One might wonder if this revision can warrant the interest of owners of the first edition.
