BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING

.... after her first day in a New York nursery school, and her mother's alarmed accusations to the head of the school, then the police, is met with increasing disbelief when there seems to be no record of the child- at the school, nor evidence of her existence at the apartment. A psychiatrist attributes the mother's delusion to guilt (Bunny is illegitimate) and her search, frenetic indeed, is finally rewarded by Bunny's return and the evidence of another woman's disturbance.... An evening's excitement- unreasonable as it may seem the next morning.
