It has been 17 years since Joe Finch, Jr., reluctant heir to Interstellar Business Advisors, was murdered on the backwater planet of Jebinose, apparently by the very natives whom he was helping to conduct a boycott against discriminatory seating in a local store. Josephine Finch, now efficiently administering the empire her father never wanted, is tipped off to some shady political influences in the ascendancy on Jebinose. The plot concerns the efforts of Jo and her grandfather's old partner Pete to reconstruct the truth of the murder and expose the ""reactionary"" enemies of interstellar laissez-faire for the power-hungry vultures they are. A so-so effort, loosely linked to Wilson's Healer (1976); future volumes will apparently pull together the disparate threads.
