Commendable, but largely social and regional in interest -- a story of racial and economic abuse. Story of a doctor and of the Negro and white sharecroppers of the Missouri boot-heel sector. Joel Kennedy has devoted his life to his people, working under primitive conditions, treating their way of life as much as their illnesses. A flood brings greater destitution, in spite of temporary measures by the Red Cross, and the Negroes stage a demonstration in an attempt to unionize the sharecroppers. Dr. Joel sides with them, is branded a ""Nigger-lover"" be the whites, but eventually helps the Negroes win their fight and bring about investigation.
