A vigorous treatment of men, ships and storms, of rescue and repair work, and of the sea, this is an account of the hazards the Leicester, Josephine, Lillian and other ships faced in the three hurricanes in the fall of 1948. When the Leicester had to be abandoned in the first hurricane, the other two had the almost hopeless job of finding her. It was a race to reach the drifting derelict as two subsequent hurricanes struck. Because of the tireless determination of these men, the ending is a happy one in a book with special appeal for male sea buffs.
