by Florence M. Taylor ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
Designed as a guide to parents, this could be used as a group teaching tool in church adult education. Mrs. Taylor's viewpoint is Protestant and rather surprisingly liberal, particularly in the area of handling of children's questions. Her text is divided into two main parts, the Christian family as a potential redemptive factor, and the problems of teaching the Bible at home. She accepts the necessity of parents reinheriting the responsibility, if they would have their children grow up as practising Christians. Her viewpoint is that of a professional guidance counsellor who has faced the need for solutions to everyday problems, joy and grief, prayer, and the essence of Christianity in human relations. One point frequently stressed is the importance of parents clarifying their own thinking and actions. There are excellent lists:- a good bibliography, a breakdown of Bible passages under topical headings and for different age groups. Double list this for Parents and Teachers and for your Religious Book section.
