by Frances Parkinson Keyes ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 26, 1936
This is the publisher's big book of the Fall, to be backed with extensive advertising, posters, sales aide, etc. Frankly, it doesn't seem as important as they would have one believe. It is good reading for one who wants a lush, sentimental, romantic novel, with lots of narrow escapes before real happiness is achieve. A sure bet for the circulating library. Honor Bright is the somewhat mistreated and certainly misguided lovely daughter of a Southern beauty, and of a father who is a bit of a business man and very much of a politican. With the mother's daughter, tiny Honor Bright comes into association with the Stones, important socially, financially, politically -- and she comes to dominate their destinies. A succession of missteps ends finally in the right sort of success. Mrs. Keyes knows her political and Washington background, and spins a readable tale.
