Rich Gilbert Wentworth taunts poor, orphaned David Morgan with the name ""Lighthouse Boy,"" and as the other kids join in, Davey smarts. He loves the (1850 Maine) lighthouse with Ma and Pa Snow and his three ""sisters"" but going to school becomes a dreaded ordeal. When Gilbert sails out to jeer and accidentally capsizes, you-know-who rescues. . . which makes the rich kid even more vituperative (although his appreciative father agrees to finance one sister's operation as a reward). Then the kids at school openly favor the hero and Gilbert attacks in a rage, blurts out his jealousy--nasty servants in the house vs. Lighthouse Boy's happy family. ""Jehoshapat!"" Stale apple pie characterization in a most predictable sequence.
