... and resounding applause for Mr. Bonham who has surpassed his recent Deepwater Challenge (1963, p. 61, J-29) in this fresh, slightly fantastic tale of crashing surf, salty air, and talking dolphins. The character studies of the scientists at the oceanography lab in La Jolla, California, the two young lab assistants, and Horace Morris, a sea-struck hermit, are finely done solely through dialogue and action. The story moves along at a ripping pace, and the vivid details of surf-boarding, deep sea-diving and other aspects of sea life will fascinate young adventurers of both sexes.
